A poor performance form Leodis against title challengers Drighlington. Leodis failed to come to terms with the conditions and Drighlington played to their own strengths on their home pitch. A very hard dry pitch along with balls purposely pumped up to 'cannon-ball' proportions and aided by strong wind in their favour Drighlington launched constant long balls and up-and-under clearances that Leodis just couldn't cope with. Huge high bouncy balls swerving in the strong wind unsettled the Leodis back four and goalie and 4 goals were conceded inside 30mins. A cross curled straight into back of net, a flick-on header from edge of box flew into top corner, a scramble from a corner and a deflected shot. All poor goals to concede. To make matters worse Mark Wilson was sent off for retaliation after reacting to a bad challenge on 35mins, the referee not managing to see the initial bad tackle by Drighlington. No complaints with the red card. 4-0 down with 10 men at half-time.
Much better performance in 2nd half, Leodis taking advantage of the wind to put Drighlington under pressure. A little unlucky not to score more that one goal. The Drighlington keeper pulling off one great save from a Mudd strike from the edge of box. Ian Brown scored the Leodis goal, a long range low free kick that the keep should have saved. Leodis captain Jackson gave a blatant penalty away in the last 5mins to allow Drighlington chance to make final score 5-1
